Son sin lugar a dudas una de las bandas de reggae más veteranas, hablamos del grupo jamaicano Morgan Heritage, compuesto por cinco hermanos: Una Morgan, Roy "Gramps" Morgan, Peter "Jahpetes" Morgan, Nakhamyah "Lukes" Morgan, Memo "Mr. Mojo" Morgan y Denroy "Daddy" Morgan. "Nuestros primeros pasos en el mundo de la música se remontan a 1982". El padre (Denroy Morgan) tuvo éxito con varias canciones, un día llegó a casa y vio que tenían cierto talento, les compró instrumentos, y comenzarón a dar clases y todo eso… el resto es historia.

Peter (cantante solista), Gramps (teclados y voz), Lukes (guitarra), Una (la única chica, que toca los teclados y canta), Daddy (guitarra) y Mr. Mojo, que toca la percusión y hace los coros. Unos nacierón en Jamaica y otros en Brooklyn y se criaron en Springfield, Massachussets. Los fines de semana o cuando no había colegio iban a Nueva York y los músicos del padre les daban clases y grababan en el estudio de música. Viven ahora en Jamaica pero como tienen familia en USA pasan bastante tiempo allí. Su estilo de música la denominan "rockaz" es decir "reggae music that rocks" es una música energica como un torbellino de fuerza,esa fuerza que llevan a todos sus trabajos hechos hasta este momento.

Luego de venir tocando en bandas como guitarrista y corista (también componiendo temas y letras) decide hacer su propio proyecto de banda en el año 2005 llamado “Buenas Vibraciones”, participa en festivales de reggae junto a bandas de renombre a nivel nacional.A comienzos del 2007 sufre un accidente automovilístico que le provoca una lesión grave en un pulmón, alejándolo un poco de la música, mientras dura su recuperación.A pesar de esa desgracia continúa peleando y realiza el ultimo show con Buenas Vibraciones en el Chascomus Rock, cerrando así, un importante ciclo en su carrera.A partir de ese momento comienza a juntar nuevos músicos para un segundo proyecto, “BLAZINGONE”: “ME FUI ENCENDIDO, FILOSO como fuegoo!! Jajaj de ahi viene el nombre"Blazingone es presentado, también, tocando paralelamente en formato “Sound system” con un estilo “New Roots”. Luego de ir probando y rotando músicos, hoy x hoy, Blazingone se puede considerar una banda estable.

La Hurlingham Reggae Band era una banda informal, paralela a Sumo, también liderada por Luca Prodan y con integrantes no tan fijos. Tal como Luca relataba a Gloria Guerrero, «En un principio, eran casi todos temas míos, cuando yo tocaba la guitarra. Después la cosa fue cambiando, entró una onda mucho más reggae, nos desdoblamos en la Hurlingham Reggae Band (que era únicamente reggae) y Sumo, por su parte, se puso más pesado. Y Fargo -que hoy es el guitarrista de los Redonditos de Ricota- era el violero de la Hurlingham. Después se unieron los dos grupos otra vez, Fargo se fue con Patricio Rey, yo me fui a Europa, y cuando volví con Sumo comenzamos a hacer temas de la Hurlingham... Ahora Sumo es medio reggae y medio pesado. En fin: medio raro» (G.Guerrero, pág 115). Luego, terminó fusionándose en Sumo.

La planta del cáñamo ” CANNABIS SATIVA “, parece ser que se conoce desde hace unos 8.000 años, ya que en documentos chinos de estas fechas se mencionan y desde muchísimo tiempo se han utilizado sus fibras para fabricar cordel, ropas, calzado y papel, sus semillas como alimento y su resina por su poder curativo. Hoy se considera que existen tres variedades distintas de la planta del cáñamo:

CANNABIS RUDELARIS Del Sur de Siberia

En 1948 la Organización Mundial de la Salud O.M.S., llego a la conclusión de

que el uso de la cannabis era peligroso desde todo punto de vista ya sea física, mental o social.

CANNABIS SATIVA:

Forma de la hoja de cannabis

Las referencias chinas aluden a la variedad científicamente conocida como

cannabis sativa. Esta es la variedad que está extendida por todo el continente americano.

Los europeos que viajaron al “Nuevo Mundo”, dejaron testimonio de que en el siglo XVI la planta estaba ya ampliamente extendida por todo el territorio americano. Esta variedad sativa de cañamo se distingue por el hecho de que suele alcanzar gran altura. Ha sido la que más se ha extendido por el mundo, principalmente por tener fuertes fibras.

CANNABIS INDICA:Una segunda variedad de cáñamo es la llamada Cannabis Indica. Esta variedad parece ser que apareció primeramente en la India. Es una planta más baja, leñosa y carnosa y, en consecuencia, mucho menos util para la fibra. Por otra parte esta planta contiene gran cantidad de resina de Cannabis. La referencia más antígua a esta variedad aparece en el Atharca-Veda, del segundo milenio antes de Cristo, en el que se considera ya al cáñamo una de las cinco plantas sagradas de la India. Se propagó gradualmente de la India a las partes limítrofes, llegando a Occidente a través de Egipto y Persia.

CANNABIS RUDELARIS:

Hay por último, una tercera variedad de cáñamo, la Cannabis Rudelaris, y que crece principalmente por el Sur de Siberia. La referencia más antigua que tenemos de ella procede del incansable viajero griego Herodoto. Escritores y arqueólogos cifran el descubrimiento del cáñamo en Asia, unos ocho mil años a. de C., y con posterioridad en los demás continentes. Un libro religioso asiático, el “Avesta de Zaratustra”, cita que unos siete mil años a. de C. la resina del cáñamo fue considerada como tóxica por primera vez. Sobre el año dos mil setecientos treinta a. de C., el Emperador chino

Shen Nung describe el uso del cáñamo en el libro de la farmacia más antiguo que se conoce. Se utilizaba

para combatir las enfermedades como el beri-beri y la malaria, aunque sin resultado positivo alguno, recomendando su uso para todo, desde el reumatismo al estreñimiento y a la simple distracción.

Sobre el año 1.800 llega a Europa, traída por las tropas de Napoleón, tras la campaña de Egipto, pero su consumo estuvo limitado tan sólo a algunos círculos “selectos” de la sociedad francesa, como muestran las descripciones de Gautier, Baudelari y Dumas, en el “Club de Hachichins” de París, en el que artistas y literatos consumían la droga y plasmaban después sus experiencias en diversos escritos.

Polémica historieta será lanzada al mundo. Su autor: Ziggy Marley, el hijo de la leyenda del reggae, Bob.

Quién diría que el hijo de Bob Marley iba a firmar una obra donde la marihuana se vea como la esencia salvadora del planeta. El cantante Ziggy Marley hace sus pinitos en el mundo de la historieta, como dibujante y escritor, dando a conocer al mundo su nueva historia.

Y aunque no vuela como Superman, sí se eleva de otras formas porque el superhéroe se llama Marijuanaman, creado junto con su coautor Joe Casey y el artista Jim Mahfood. Marley participará en la Convención Internacional de Cómics de San Diego, donde ya se inscribió para presentar su creación.

“El nuevo superhéroe de Ziggy, Marijuanaman, es de un planeta que necesita desesperadamente del THC (la principal sustancia psicoactiva encontrada en las plantas de la especie Cannabis). El movimiento Rasta nació en la época de los años 20. Desde entonces, ha

exteriorizado creencias religiosas y políticas mediante el peinado, así como una conexión íntima con Jah.Algunos Rasta evitan peinarse o cortarse el pelo citando la prescripción bíblica de Levítico 21:5 el cual señala "No harán calvicie sobre su cabeza...".El nombre dreadlocks fue asignado por la aversión ridícula de los no creyentes; el término fue adoptado y popularizado internacionalmente por la canción de Bob Marley "Natty dreads" de 1975. El origen religioso está en la Biblia, como una creencia de respeto a sí mismo y cuidado del cuerpo (recordemos que algunos rasta representan una de las 12 tribus de Israel).En el contexto social y cultural han derivado muchas interpretaciones, ya que los dreadlocks son usados como símbolo de repudio a la opresión del colonizador y el explotador, como símbolo de disconformidad con Babylon y en la actualidad también han tomado un carácter estético muy fuerte.No sólo los Rastafaris usan Dreadlocks, también son símbolo en India, donde los portan los Sadhus (Hombres sagrados), También se usan en Etiopía (los colores rasta, son los colores de la bandera de Etiopía) y en algunos otros grupos culturales.
